MS Office 2016 Standard/Professional for Windows/Mac Reaching End of Life 10/13/2020

Many of you who still use Microsoft Office 2016 Standard or Professional for Windows or Mac may be receiving messages about your installation approaching end of life. According to Microsoft support, mainstream support for Office 2016 will end on 10/13/2020 and extended support will be available until 10/14/2025.

Ending mainstream support for a product means Microsoft will no longer provide software or security updates. Security updates are what help protect your Windows and Mac from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.

To ensure continued support of your Office product(s) we recommend that you replace your MS Office 2016 installation with the MS Office 365 software.

To install and access your Office 2019 account go to portal.office.com

• Enter your <netid>@email.arizona.edu address and click Sign In.
  • At the UA-branded login screen, enter your NetID and password.
• Visit netid.arizona.edu if you need to get a NetID or to update your password.
  • Use your NetID+ method to authenticate your login.
• Visit netid-plus.arizona.edu if you need to enroll in NetID+.

You will then be logged in to your UA Office 365 portal. You can download any of the software (e.g., Excel, Word, etc.) onto your desktop for Windows or Mac.

You can also download software or apps on as many systems/devices as you want but you can only be logged into a local installation of Office 365 on five (5) devices concurrently.

ABOUT THE MICROSOFT® AGREEMENT

The Microsoft® Campus Agreement (MCA) is funded by the Office of the CIO and managed by the UA BookStores Licensing Office. Computers that are owned or leased by The University of Arizona are covered by the Campus License Agreement for the duration of the contract. The MCA contract is evaluated and renewed on an annual basis. Current term dates are 7/1/19 – 6/30/20.
